What we do

The Centrum voor Reproductieve Geneeskunde (CRG or Centre for Reproductive Medicine) at the Universitair Ziekenhuis Brussel (UZ Brussel) investigates and treats fertility problems in men and women. We have built up a worldwide reputation in our field.

In Theory we discuss the biological processes of fertility and conception in the man and the woman, and address the things that can go wrong (reduced fertility).

If conception does not occur in the natural way, we will investigate and try to determine the reason why, by performing examinations:

Where natural fertilization is difficult or not possible, the CRG attempts to find suitable remedies or methods of assistance.

treatment for men, possibly as part of a fertility treatment
treatments for women, possibly as part of a fertility treatment
medically assisted fertilization
- stimulation of the ovaries, induction of ovulation, timed intercourse,
- artificial insemination, in combination with the use of donor sperm or not
- in vitro fertilisation, in combination with ICSI or not;
- donation programs;
medical assistance in the case of repeated miscarriage

The CRG has facilities to freeze and store cells and tissue (sperm, eggcells, embryos, ovarian tissue, testicular tissue).

To conclude the CRG also works together with the Centrum voor Medische Genetica at UZ Brussel (CMG or Centre for Medical Genetics), when dealing with:

pre-implantaion diagnosis: PGS/PGD
prenatal examination
postnatal follow up of the born child until second year of life.
