Practical Information

What will it cost?

We can start by saying that there are different rules for persons who are covered by health insurance than for those who aren't.

Under regular Health Insurance
Fertility treatment generally does not require you to be hospitalized. If however this does become necessary and you specifically request a single room, the hospital will apply additional costs to your invoice. Therefore the overall cost of your treatment will be higher.
If you are covered by the normal regime of Belgian health insurance, a large part of the costs for fertility treatment will be reimbursed (see Belgian patients).
If you are covered by the Belgian mutuality, you will pay a fixed price for treatment and procedures at the CRG.
For more information about the costs of various treatments, please consult your counsellor or the invoicing department.

Private Health Insurance
Private health insurance schemes rarely cover the cost of fertility treatment. There are companies which claim to cover this, but it depends very much upon certain conditions within the particular policies. The only person who can give you accurate information is your insurance broker.
An IVF treatment course is usually completely performed on an outpatient basis with maybe one day case admission to hospital. Overnight stays are generally not necessary. This is why the costs are generally not covered by certain private insurances. We cannot admit a patient to hospital simply to ensure payment from their insurance policy. This is also forbidden by the authorities.
