What we do  Artificial Insemination

Chances of success

Only the best quality sperm cells are used for artificial insemination and they are introduced past the cervix directly into the uterus, thus bypassing the biggest barrier to sperm. As a result, the chances of fertilization increase enormously.
The chances of success depend largely on the nature of your fertility problem. Generally speaking, pregnancy is achieved in 50% of couples within four to six treatment cycles.
  • If the problem is due to the sperms' inability to pass the cervix, or due to unexplained reasons, then the chances of success are around 11% per menstrual cycle.
  • If it is a question of sperm quality, then the chances are around 7-10% per cycle.

Results of insemination with donor sperm
The latter explains why the chances of fertilization are greater using donor sperm than with own material. Donor sperm undergoes a strict selection process and only the best is selected. It is always top quality. The success rate amounts to approximately eleven per cent per menstrual cycle.

Generally speaking, if artificial insemination is used for women under the age of 37, the chances of a baby, (i.e. not the chances of pregnancy but of giving birth) amount to 50% over the course of six cycles. In case of donor sperm this amounts to 61%. In both cases these percentages are considerably lower for women who are older than 37.

If your artificial insemination treatment does not produce a pregnancy after six consecutive cycles, further medical investigation is needed. This should enable us to find the cause of infertility between you and your partner and propose an alternative
course of treatment, perhaps IVF.
