Prostate Operation
Practical information regarding procedures under local or general anaesthetic. |
|
Blockages can occur in the prostate gland as a result of infection. This can be seen on
transrectal ultrasound. A prostate operation may then be indicated, but the results of this are seldom optimal. Your doctors are much more likely to suggest TESE or FNA (see
sperm extraction for ICSI).
During a prostate operation or Transurethral Resection, blockages in the prostate gland are cleared, via a camera inserted through the penis. The operation takes place under general anaesthetic and is performed by the urologists. An overnight stay is necessary afterwards.
This procedure is seldom performed in conjunction with fertility treatment.
