Varicocele Operation

Practical information regarding procedures under local or general anaesthetic.
16% of all men have varicose vein formation in the testicles (Varicocele). They can be detected via echo-doppler investigation or flebography.
In some men, varicoceles can lead to a reduction in sperm quality. Even though there is no proof that a correction operation favours the fertility of the man, an intervention to close the veins is sometimes indicated. This takes place in the radiology department of UZ Brussel.
Depending on the severity of the operation, it takes place either as an outpatient or as a day case.
